Day 181 To Copacabana
We go back to the dirt road to catch the asphalt road to Copacabana. There are even more walkers, bikers, buses and minivans than yesterday. What an extreme!! The road into La Paz was empty because of the blockades and now, there is heaps and heaps of traffic.
We climb steadily after the ferry crossing having awesome views of the lake and mountains, sometimes we could see the lake on both sides of the road.

The ferry across is a short ride with a truck and lots of pilgrim cyclists. People are walking with only toes in their shoes and huge bandages on their heels. Along the way, kids are selling walking sticks. It is fun being on the road with so many others. Patrick wondered if Matt & Martin knew they were walking the pilgrim route, when they walked to La Paz during the blockades.
We stop for something to drink. There are lots of stands selling food and tents set up with straw and mattresses. The last 10 kms is downhill into the town. The streets now become broken cobblestone, ruts and dirt. We find our way through the crowds to the Plaza looking for the Hostal La Cupula. Patrick sees Jo (Jo & Adam of Pampas/Jungle tour), we arrange to meet tonight for dinner.
We have Trucha for dinner and arrange for a tour to Isle de sol for tomorrow.
