Day 177 Rest day in Rurrenabaque
Our original plan, when we left La Paz was to fly back yesterday. But as it turned out we were lucky to get a seat on the Monday flight, most people on our tour have to wait until Wednesday. So today is a rest day!
We go to the riverside to have another pancake breakfast at La Cabana. Seems like today is market day, Patrick goes back to the hotel to get his camera. We relax, check out the market. Hugh with large cooking bananas get shipped in on canoes. There are quite a few butchers, chopping away at chickens and chunks of meat. Refrigeration?….a blackened carcass on one stand looks a lot like a monkey, or is it a cat…?
We drop off our laundry and seek out the pool. It’s a nice, large one, all tiled and deep. The water is green but looks clean. It’s nice and quiet too, for awhile. Several people of our group show up, then some kind of birthday party starts, all of a sudden, the place crawls with kids. A band starts to play…time to leave.
We have a late lunch, pizza and a banana split for dessert. Then back to the hotel for a siesta. We lay in the hammock and read. Patrick can’t be convinced to have dinner. Rachel goes out with Sue.
