Day 145: Day two Uyuni Tour to Laguna Colorado
It’s Patrick's birthday!!
We get up at about seven, have breakfast and leave San Juan. Driving south we pass several lagunas, some of them have flamingos. The landscape gets very arid, hardly any vegetation grows here. We cross wide scree plains, on the horizon we see snow capped volcanoes and colorful mountains.
Our goal today is Laguna Colorado.
When we get there, we have to pay an entrance fee of $5 pp. At the lake is a small settlement where all tour groups spend the night. Its windy and very cold. We put on extra clothes and walk a few km’s along the lake to where we can see large groups of flamingos. The scenery is awesome. Algae color the lake a dark red, in the background rise a volcano, and in between flamingos feeding and flying.
Back at the pension, Mary has fixed spaghetti. We celebrate Patrick's birthday with a swig of whiskey in our tea.
