Day 138 to Villazon Bolivia: a day in town and Chinese Take out for camping

Free camping in Bolivia

This morning we find a Cambio, then go to a Chinese restaurant that advertised “American Breakfast”.  We have decided to stay in Villazon, do some shopping this morning, eat a nice Chinese lunch then ride on after 2 PM and free camp tonight and get to Tupiza tomorrow.

Breakfast was $5 for us both and included Café con Leche, juice, bread and a huge ham & onion omelet.  The owner is a very friendly Chinese man.

We return to our room to pack up, check out is 11 and we plan to have a big Chinese lunch, then ride on at about 2 PM.  We leave our packed bikes in the courtyard and go to explore the markets.

We order 2 dishes, Pollo Chop Suey, and fried rice—two HUGE plates of food are brought out.  We can eat only half.  We take the rest with us in containers.  And we are on our way again.

The road is rolling and we are glad we are some of the km’s today.  We see the mountains and a canyon in the distance.  The shrubs remind us of Idaho.

About 5:30 PM, Patrick finds a spot we can free camp.  We wait until no one sees us, go into the bush, wipe away our tire marks from the road.  We fix left over Chinese takeout for dinner and have a coca cola.  We pitch the tent at dark and settle in before the rain.  Lightening flashes and a light rain starts.
