Day 127 Rest Day in Salta; a local bike store
We arrive in Salta at 730am, the last half hour while it gets light, we could see some of the surroundings. A lot hillier!
Just before we drop down into Salta, we get a nice view of the city with a backdrop of high Andes mountains. Salta is at 1200meters altitude, this tempers the climate nicely and it is a lot less humid.
We first check out the hostel recommended in our guidebook, but it doesn't have any "matrimonial" rooms. Neither has the residencial we check out second. Finally, we find a nice room in Hotel Italia. The bikes can be locked in a little courtyard, our luggage goes up with us in a little elevator.
We rest a little, watch some TV, but then head out to find a cafe for coffee "medialunas", a croissant style Argentinian pastry. We return to the hostel to exchange some books, but they don't have a very good selection. In a small bike store Patrick buys two new inner tubes. Not the greatest quality, but some of ours are leaking slowly. He also gets some extra patches and glue.

We spend most of our afternoon resting and watching TV movies. The overnight bus ride wore us out. Nearby is a Chinese restaurant where we go eat later in the evening and for $6 we have a very nice buffet.
