Day 103 Carmelo: first day cycling again
We pack up early, this is our first day of cycling in Uruguay and first day cycling since arriving in Ushuaia Jan 15.
The road is asphalt, not much shoulder and patched pretty heavily in spots. The wind just swirls around us. Patrick comments "it's nice to have things to look at again". A large iguana crosses the road.

The bus stalls offer good refuge for breaks. At noontime, just as we finish eating, the dark clouds we have watching all morning, finally the rain arrives. We wait about a half hour, then the rain comes down less, we don our raingear and head out again. Intermittent rain continues.
We cross the bridge over Arroyo de las Vasas into the town and past the Plaza Independencia in search of an open Supermercado. The plaza has white Greek statues. There is a banner across the road advertising the 27th Fiesta Nacional de la Uva (Grape Festival). We find a small market open and eventually a shop selling chicken.
We circle back through town across the bridge and find camping by the Rio de la Plata.
