Day 91: First Day Back Home

Reconnecting with German Friends

In the morning we have another nice Welcome Home meeting up with Tine and Joerg and their friends Patricia and Jeus.

Prior to us leaving on our tour Tine and Joerg had contacted us about coming to Boise again and we connected them with Kim and our friend Bob. The original plan was first to come into Boise to raft but with the wildfires they had to change their plans. First going to California and climbing in Yosemite. Then coming to Boise and rafting Hell's Canyon. They stayed today to see us and then headed to Utah to Mountain Bike.

We first met them on the Friendship Highway and to Mt. Everest Basecamp in 2007. This seemed to be an apt name for this stretch of the road, as they visited us in 2010 in February to do a Back country Ski Adventure in the Sawtooths. Then on our 2015-2017 RTW tour, we visited them in their home in Sorgau Germany.

After Breakfast, they continued their trip. We continue to make the time adjustment of being home.

Bill ShaneyfeltThanks for your faithful posting! As always, I enjoyed following along. These bike tour journals kind of salve the misery of not being capable of touring any longer, but at 78, I am delighted to follow others who still have smoothly operating joints!

Rachel and Patrick HugensThank you Bill. We enjoy knowing that you are following along. Whenever we see a critter or plant we do not recognize we mention you and make an effort to get a photo so we can wait for identification. Please visit us again in Boise when you can. racpat
