Day 87: Nynashamn to Alvsjo

Back to the Beginning at Bjorn's home

"Do you know how long this would have taken us with only the tablet," Patrick says as we are following Bjorn through the maze of streets and bike paths to his home.

“It was great having an IT guy helping out,” Patrick adds. Bjorn made access to phone and internet so easy, trouble shooting for us along the way.

The Ferry arrives right at noon, we are ready for the final day of riding and are the first to abandon ship.  We left July 5th from Bjorn & Anna's house and now we are back to the beginning.

After having to ride a large loop to the customs gates and a couple of quick questions we are let back in Sweden.

On the other side of the gate is Bjorn waiting for us. He leads us into Nynashamn to a fish restaurant at the yacht harbor. We have a nice lunch of fish an beer.

Bjorn is going to show us the way

Then there is the matter of cycling the last miles. Bjorn has had a nasty fall-accident during our absence and is still recovering from his injuries. He took the train here this morning and even though he is in pain he will try to ride with us at least halfway before catching another
train.

We ride mostly on bikepaths or follow the old highway towards Stockholm. It’s nice cycling along rolling pastures, some forest and lots of farms. It is hard to believe we are so close to the capital city.

Halfway we stop at a bakery for pastries and coffee. Bjorn had planned to leave us here, but the train schedule is a bit wonky so he decides to ride all the way with us. That is nice because the last twenty kilometers wind through the outskirts of Stockholm which would have meant a lot of way-finding for us.

Now we just follow Bjorn.

Finding the way is much easier with Bjorn

There was rain predicted for this afternoon, and we luck out again. Not fifteen minutes after arriving in Alvsjo it starts to sprinkle and turns to a downpour later in the evening.

We have dinner with Bjorn and Anna and settle back in. Our loop is complete.

"We have 5 kms to go, time for a picture," Bjorn says

Rachel and Patrick HugensTo Kathleen JonesQuick question, should the watercolors all be one or divided into Scandinavia and Baltic?

Kathleen JonesEither way is fine. My thought was just one page with all of them, because I’d like to see the art in sequence for the entire tour. But it’s how you think they’d be best displayed that matters. Do you feel like that’s a natural division for your drawings? Also, what would be easiest. That’s a lot to do.
