Day 49: Ivalo to Vuotso
Beautiful Typical Finland
This morning we have our typical cereal breakfast, then got going at about eight. The first twenty eight kilometers we gained about 200 meters altitude to a ski resort area where we stopped at a roadside restaurant for coffee and pastries. We are expecting rain to hit at about one, but we are lucky today.
There are several very dark clouds that miss us and even though we have a headwind we make good time sheltered by trees. Today is a nice cycling day. It is pretty, but nothing we would hit the brakes for to take a picture. Finland has a lot of lakes, hills and trees.
We stop one more time for a roadside lunch, expecting it to start raining any moment. Again we are lucky, we arrive at the B&B we reserved just as some very dark clouds are blowing in. Even though check-in is not until four, and the reception is closed, someone shows up just as we are trying to call their phone number and checks us in smoothly.

Our B&B room is a bit more than what we have been spending on campground cabins, but breakfast next morning is included and it is nice to have towels and sheets “on the house”, instead of using our own. As soon as we are settled-in a rainstorm hits. During a break we walk about 500 meters down the road to a grocery store where we get all the ingredients for a nice taco salad dinner, including some cold beers!
Across the road is an interesting display of bikes as a fence.
