Day 48: Rest Day in Ivalo
We Just Rested
There's not much to say about today. We've not had many rest days on this tour. Today we took a rest day in our little cabin at the Arctic River Resort just outside of Ivalo.
All we did was eat, drink and rest. We started the day with coffee and a pastry in the cabin, then a nice cooked breakfast by Rachel: hashbrowns, eggs, and some bacon Rachel stole at the buffet yesterday. In the early afternoon we cycled back to Ivalo and made another visit to the buffet restaurant next to the grocery store. We shopped before we ate and bought way too many groceries for dinner, because after the late all-you-can-eat lunch we did not get hungry again. But there was still a bottle of red wine that needed taken care of, and crackers with fish salad spread went well with that.
Patrick uses the time to finalize some plans for the rest of the tour.Since we reached out main goal of the Northcape, our secondary focus has been seeing the Baltic States. So we've decided to slow down and enjoy the Baltics. We'll reach Gdansk by September 23rd, then leave at 6pm on September 25th taking an overnight ferry to South of Stockholm.
We'll ride 60km back to Bjorn's home on the 26th. We fly home September 29th!
