Veracruz: restday
A great day for a rest day, it's been raining overnight and still raining, making for a nice lazy day. We have the hotel's breakfast buffet, a nice change from yogurt and granola.
We venture out for another walk around in the historic center. We start with the Baluarte de Santiago, a military building completed in 1635, near our hotel. This is one of nine bastions of the defense wall of the city. Then wander to Zocalo the Plaza de Armas and Plaza Lerdo. There are souvenir stalls, restaurants with outdoor seating and wandering musicians. For a late lunch, early dinner we go to a taco buffet looking at the Plaza.
Tomorrow we start up the coast to Brownsville Texas.
