to La Guadalupe: Heading north
Today is much like the previous day. For 30km there's not much along the way except scenery and ocean views. At some point we left the emergency radiation evacuation zone because the signs stopped. When there's a Pemex gas station there is usually an Oxxo, so we stop for chocolate milk.
We see many vehicles towing a second vehicle on a tow bar, both loaded with lots of stuff. We read they are car dealers from Belize hauling cars from the States. At Nautla we cross a large river. Then again at Casitas.
Casitas has many hotels especially around distance marker 90, another 12km in Santa Ana, there is a very nice looking hotel. And the last stretch into La Guadalupe the road is lined with hotels, Trailer Parks, and Camping. Patrick thinks the trailer parks are probably for "snow birds" that winter in Mexico.
We are happy that after Casitas the shoulder returns! When we reach La Guadalupe, the first hotel we check, is a bit unfriendly and basic, but they say they have WiFi, we go back to check another hotel where we have trouble locating anyone to ask. No WiFi, no AC. We decide to go back a couple kilometers to some fancier hotels in La Vigueta but first stop at a shop on the way. Right behind it is Posada Playa Azul, Patrick checks this out, very friendly, nice room, no WiFi or AC but still in town near restaurants and shops. For 350 pesos, we have a nice room. Patrick goes for takeout enchiladas and empanadas. At evening time we walk down to the water then eat a Carne Asada for dinner. It's low season so very peaceful.
