to Belur: another fine ride
"Tea or coffee?" says the man to Patrick when he stopped in front of their house. "Coffee would be nice" Patrick replies. This is the beauty of cycle touring, meeting and interacting with the people.
We had just stopped for coffee, so this will be our second cup within 5kms. Two chairs were brought out for us to sit, and coffee was served in china cup and saucer. When we left, two roses were picked and given to Rachel.
At the lowest elevation point today, we started seeing dry flat and terraced rice field, yet the coffee plants still line the road until about 10kms from Belur. Slowly, the Ghat mountains have disappeared. We find Hotel Mayura Velapuri, recommended in Elsbeth and Martin Jarmin's blog. A nice place where we just rolled our loaded bikes into the room. Then went to have a Fosters Beer and later a very nice dinner.
There are two Hindu temples to see. Tomorrow is a rest day.
