restday in Tholpetty: bust safari in Wayanad Wildlife sanctuary
"My expectations are not very high about this safari" Patrick says. This proved to be an accurate, the safari was not a success.
We walked to the entrance of the park around 730am. Standing in line to buy a ticket an Indian family asked if we wanted to share a taxi. Everything is broken down in fees, ticket is bought separately (300rupee per person), then shuttled to a taxi that has a fee (600 rupee) and on top of this is the entrance fee for the guide (75 rupee). Oh, and a separate fee for each camera (38 rupee). The safari is for 1 1/2 hours. We drive around over very bumpy roads and are unlucky at seeing an elephant. We do see a few spotted deer and a bison with two calves. The guide just drove not much of a guide.
The rest of the day, Patrick fixes Rachel's derailleur that got mucked up a few days ago. Laundry is drying in the sun. We again don't have internet, will have to check this out tomorrow. And we each finished reading our books. We have one each more to read.
