Okavango Delta: scenic flight
"When we first took off I thought I just might need the airsickness bags," Rachel said. Our pre-flight safety instructions from the pilot was "here are the bags, use them if you need them."
Then we are off in a 4 person plane....not sure about this as we took off with the plane tilting side to side then a dip...where were those bags? Then the plane settles and we are flying about 150 meters (500 feet) above the Okavango Delta for a 45 minutes flight.
Yesterday riding into Maun and before finding Sedia Hotel and Camping, we stopped at the Spar grocery store. Mark and Kathy, stopped to talk with us saying they are mountain bike cyclists. Mark owns a company Kavanga Go Air that offers scenic flights and safaris and we exchanged email addresses.
This morning we still were not sure what we would be doing to see the delta. Patrick had emailed with other tour operators and everything now is catered to the high end tourist not backpackers. Then Mark connected us with his office, Kavanga Go Air. After several email exchanges a flight was arranged for 3:30pm. The staff of KGA also connected us to a company for a day safari in Moremi at a very reasonable price for tomorrow.
We will be picked up at 5:15am for the all day safari.
