Boise: First weeks home

Getting our house and garden in order

"What's it like being home?" "How do you feel about being at home?" just a few questions asked at the end of long tour and being at home.

We love bicycle touring. We love being home. It'a about finding a balance.

This time though we don't have much time to dwell on the question above. Our house-sitter unraveled during the last six months so we found plenty of work upon our arrival home. All our belongings were stored in the attic of the house and had to be brought down. Patrick's dad Frans and his wife Petra come over for three weeks to help getting the garden under control. All this work pretty much keeps our minds off the transition from travel to "real-life".

The transition happens faster with each return after a long trip.

The front garden is a jungle. These ornamental grasses are supposed to be tall, but the lawn shouldn't be 6" tall.

The deer sure like the cover all those tall plants offer.

Our neighbor Christine supplies us with toilet paper.

Our friend Susan spends a morning cleaning the kitchen.

All our stuff had been stored in the attic.

There is no permanent stairs to the attic yet, so we lower all our stuff off the rear balcony.

Friends Cindy and Bob help us move things back into place

Slowly we put everything back into place.

Our friend Cindy tackles to front yard so our mailman can get to the house again.

Frans (Patrick's dad) and Petra come over from Ossendrecht to help us reclaim the house and garden.
