Day 7: Stanley to Fir Creek CG
"We are hosts for the area. How are you folks?" A couple drop by at Fir Creek Campground, and we chat awhile. "582 just opened last week", they say. We hadn't thought that the road might not be open.
They are from Ohio and are campground hosts for the area of Forest Service campgrounds. As we talk, they tell us they also have their horses with them. We tell them we stayed at the Wrangler's Camp in Land between the Lakes in KY in 2017 on our last tour. They worked there for 9 years.
Early this morning, we leave Stanley after a nice breakfast at the restaurant. We turn off Hwy 21 just below Banner Summit onto Bear Valley road up to the summit of Cape Horn. Then continuing on road 579, we descend following Fir creek to a Forest Service Campground.

And then the downhill. Sometimes is just as painful as the uphill.
We turn off road 579 and to the Forest Service Fir Creek Campground.
We first set up in another site until the shade disappears and then move to here.
