Polignano a Mare
Leaving Monopoli about 10 am this morning, we are planning a slow ride to soak up the sun and scenery. Just outside of town though, we happen across a grocery store, and Marjory pops inside to seek gluten-free granola to no avail.

The scenery once we left Monopoli was really something.
Too soon, we were entering Polignano. I was little worried it would be too small to occupy us for 2 nights - maybe we should have stayed in Monopoli another day? But this seawalk sure looked inviting.
And then via Roma had a lively feel.
Walking around here, we saw amazing views everywhere with lots of restaurants, bars, and tourists.
We decided we would take a boat ride tomorrow to see the coast from the sea.
Polignano's favourite son Domenico Medugno, who first sang Volare. I expected to hear it everywhere here, but so far...nope.

So many lookouts along the city walls. Spectacular views!
I think we will have no problem finding things to do for the next two nights! At lunch we met a really nice French girl who was a recent graduate in engineering and was taking a 2 month break before starting full time work. Fun to compare itineraries and interest. As she was travelling in the opposite direction (came from Bari, heading to Monopoli) we got to trade insights into each others trips and what to do.
And now, our bike trip is done. We left our bikes with reception and Puglia Cycle will pick them up. That's a wrap!
Today's ride: 15 km (9 miles)
Total: 567 km (352 miles)
