Travelling to Bari
The trip from Toronto to Rome was uneventful but we had a 5hr layover in Rome that was interesting. First, we tried to change to a 1:30 flight but that was not possible without cancelling our entire ticket including the return and rebooking. We tried to change locally and by phone to AC but no success. We could have done it with AC but of course it would have cost too much money. We arrived in Terminal 3 but departed from Terminal 1 to Bari. There are 4 different lounges in Terminal 1 but we couldn’t get into any of them despite our tickets. The one that is affiliated with Air Canada will only allow you in if you are departing on an AC ticket. We have an AC ticket but on an ITA flight so it does not qualify. Next we tried the ITA lounge but we were too early and for 2 hrs it was 59-79€, not happening. We even got a ITA boarding pass to be safe but still no luck. Lastly we tried the lounge associated with my BMO Mastercard but since I didn’t have the actual card with me that didn’t work either. After all of our options were exhausted we went for lunch with an Aperol spritz for Tim and a lemoncello spritz for me. All in all it was a first world problem.
Once we made it to Bari we checked into our lovely Air B&B in the heart of the city. It has 2 separate sleeping areas and 2 bathrooms so we each should sleep well. We went for a short walk and stopped a local pasta dish.
