Off to Matera

We checked out of our wonderful AirB&B at 11 but out bus was not until 2:30 because it was Sunday.  To kill time we played a dice game had lunch with a few cocktails.  Once we arrived in Matera we made a whirlwind tour of the old town before meeting with the representative from the tour company.  We had a thorough one hour briefing after which we went for dinner in the town.  We start cycling tomorrow and it looks like a great tour.

Our lunch of Bresaola, arugula, cheese with warm bread.

Matera one of the oldest cities in the world. Ir has been around since the 10th century BC. Many people lived in caves up until 1952 when the government shut them down for hygiene reasons.

Hilary JaegerMatera is gorgeous! What a hidden gem. Although my knees arenโ€™t sure they would enjoy walking around there.

Bob KoreisBufala mozzarella is such a treat and the ravioli photo has me salivating. But a treat you missed was riding into Matera. Or maybe I should say UP to Matera. ๐Ÿฅต๐Ÿ˜‰
