Ostuni to Locorotondo
Ostuni is a photogenic town and its photo is well known, making it a Puglian site not to be missed. But when you approach it from its backside and then bore into it, you can completely miss the postcard view. Such was the case for us because we entered it from the south while Ostuni’s best side faces east towards the Adriatic.
Another thing about our approach to Ostuni is that the elevation gain as we neared the city went unnoticed. Ok, there was a short climb to our B&B, but nothing of the scope we saw in the panoramic view over the Adriatic from the belvedere in town. We truly had no idea we were at such an elevation.

We hadn’t seen Ostuni’s good side in our time here and I was determined to see it before we left town. So, today began by circling the city in search of that postcard view. It wasn’t as straightforward as I’d hoped because of the ubiquitous ‘sens unico’ streets, but we eventually found its good side.
Today’s ride was through the small lanes of the Val d’Istria in the land of trulli’s. It was magical and picture perfect.
While we love our stays in these old cities, the stone dwellings do pose a challenge to internet services. Once again, I will post photos so I can move on. I will fill in some stories when possible.

We stopped for a coffee in Cisternino, another hidden gem.

The views from our destination, Locorotondo, were amazing. We could see all the way back to Ostuni.

Dinner was at a restaurant about 50 paces from our door.
We were seated at a table under this arch for tonight’s fabulous dinner.
Today's ride: 30 km (19 miles)
Total: 806 km (501 miles)
