The Dalles to Cascade Locks

Today we get to ride on the HIstoric Columbia Route - some two lane road and some brand new bike trail!

We started low near the river.

The road was very quiet.

We had it all to ourselves

The climbing started soon as we wound our way up to the lookout point

Stephen was below!

I'm up higher.

What a view

We were really up there above everything

Beautiful

Can you believe this bike path?

They restored the twin tunnels for cyclists! Originally, they wre built in the 1919 -1922 and two Model A's could pass each other in them. They were closed and backfilled eventually. In 1995 they began recontruction. What a nice job they did. Amazing!

we stopped to take a break and talked with some folks who windsurf!

Another stunning day!

Had to top it off with something yummy!

Home for tonight - Cascade Motel in Cascade Locks!
