Sep 29 - Sun Valley and the Wood River

Another wonderful day of cycling … today we picked up where we left off yesterday on the Wood River Rail Trail. As we headed north we then came to the Sun Valley Trail system which took us around and through Sun Valley, specifically the town of Ketchum.
Sun Valley is actually much more than the town of Ketchum as development extends up and down all the neighboring canyons with plentiful golf courses and million dollar (or more) homes. But that also means that the streets had bike lanes and bike pathways pretty much everywhere. We also came across 3 distinct ski areas with Sun Valley being the main feature.
I am not by nature a big fan of “urban” style riding preferring to be away from the people but Sun Valley did a good job of mixing the two. We did get some stellar scenery moments however.
After wandering around a bit we made our way back to our starting point enjoying the 10-15 mph headwinds which made the downward grade somewhat cancel itself out. We opted to then go another 10 miles just to up the daily ride a bit.
Today's ride: 36 miles (58 km)
Total: 8,195 miles (13,189 km)
