Ride 17 - Rio Grande Trail El Paso
As we had cycled Las Cruces last year, we decided to head further south to El Paso today before heading back to Tucson.
TrailLink showed a bike path along the Rio Grande River although the reviews we could find were not encouraging. The path was concrete and ran next to a very dry river bed. Not sure where the water is or where it went, but it was definitely was not there today.

The ride was not real inspiring but the weather and nearby mountains made it worth it. There weren’t a lot of other trail users but we did get some excellent views of a roadrunner who simply didn’t want to fly away.

Perhaps the most notable events today were the skies. Was hoping the sunset would add a little bit of extra bang but the sun didn’t cooperate once again.
After the ride, we opted to go a few miles further south to see the infamous wall, the border wall between the USA and Mexico. Honestly it wasn’t a real event but merely a connection between reality and what people think it is.
Today's ride: 29 miles (47 km)
Total: 1,596 miles (2,569 km)
