June 17 - 23
Summer has definitely arrived. We are now getting temperatures approaching the high 70’s and low 80’s on a consistent basis. That’s the good part. The bad part, however, is the afternoon thunderstorms which generally produced lightning and with lightning comes lightning strikes which means fires.
Only one major fire is burning that affects us currently but it is now around 45,000 acres and fortunately just enough south of us that the winds are keeping it away. The Tanana River is also between us and the fire which makes a natural fire break.
The only other big news this week was the first “older” granddaughter cycling outing. The girls cycled for a total of 11.5 miles which involved McDonalds and some ice cream at the half way point which kept them focused and moving forward. The Trident Half Pints continue to be the perfect tool for introducing them to the art of cycling.
