Esposende to Porto

Since my bike was delivered to the hotel late morning, we did not get an early start to our ride. Blessed with sunny skies and a cooling sea breeze we cycled to the town of Povoa de Varzim. It looked like the town had packed it in for the season despite the beautiful weather. A local cafe was open so we stopped for a an excellent reasonably priced coffee.
Stayed at Porto A.S. 1829 Hotel.
The Euro velo route was hard to follow and consisted of many cobbled stone streets through small towns(Villa Cha and Matosinhos) slowing us down a bit. The advantage to the towns is access to food and water. Stopping at a local grocery store, we picked up sandwiches and fruit and headed to the beach for lunch.
Just as the set was starting to set we entered Unao das de Adoar on the outskirts of Porto. By the time we reached Porto and hauled ourselves up the hill to our hotel, it was dark. We arrived to the sound of music and singing in the square. No shortage of restaurants we did not have to walk far to find a delicious meal. Porto was full of tourists enjoying the evening!
Today's ride: 63 km (39 miles)
Total: 113 km (70 miles)
