Philly Bob texted me about a weekend bike packing trip up the Pine Creek Rail Trail with a bunch of his buds. I packed out my panniers on my 90's mountain bike and headed towards Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Williamsport is where the Little League World Series is played. It also has a Little League World Series Hall of Fame, serious business. My final destination was Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania. A large town nowhere near the ocean. It was about ten miles west of Williamsport. Do not type Jersey Shore in your GPS when you are looking for a beach vacation, you will not find the ocean and sand. The booking site is confusing, there is Tioga Forest, Tiagdaghton Forest, Colton State Park (no reservations), Pine Creek State Park, various types of sites, drive up, walk in, bike up, paddle in. Purple Lizard Maps has an excellent waterproof paper map of Pine Creek. Linda Stager wrote a history and info packed book, THE PINE CREEK RAIL-TRAIL GUIDEBOOK. Bikepacking.com has an interesting route that takes you up both sides of the gorge, for something a little more involved than what we did.
