Day 5 - Walsenburg Colorado to West of Pritchett Colorado
The riders rode 80 miles today. The SAG driver was waiting for them at that point. Since this stretch is very desolate, they loaded up the bikes drove an hour before reaching Pritchett, CO. I was able to drive over there as well from Montezuma and meet up with them. In Pritchett, there is an old Historical Hotel. It is a really neat landmark that has been recently renovated. I would recommend it! By this time, the men are thinking Montezuma is 8,000' instead of 2,800'!! They rode in rolling hills with temps in the 75-80° range. The wind was a quartering wind. An interesting note is, James would set his e-assist to 1 for climbing hills and 2, for the downhill. That way he could catch up to Jerrell!! James is using a 35 amp hour battery. He changed his Bafang sprocket to a 52T and is using a 11-50 on the rear.
