Santa Fe - Rest day
Took it easy in the morning then negotiated a shuttle into town at 11am. The hotel was in a desert of 8 lane highway lined with fast food outlets.
Downtown Santa Fe was made up largely of old, low adobe builings and more modern structures in sympathy. There’s therefore a a big sense of sky and space.
The buildings are beautiful. A good proportion are occupied by museums, conference centres, galleries and municipal services. That said, on a Saturday there’s a danger that it’s like a theme park for tourists.
Receptionist in the hotel not great about the free shuttle but advised we use a local taxi.
