Yuma Bike Paths
Arizona, state #45 … time to ride but first check the weather … sigh.
As we were riding today our conversation went along the lines of the challenges of cycling and how different factors rate into the question, to ride or not.
1) Sun or Overcast … a little bit of sun overcomes temperature
2) Temperature … temperature can overcome most things
3) Precipitation … can overcome temperature but little else
4) Wind … the relentless foe, either it hurts you or helps you
So today, partly sunny is a plus, temperature is the best we’ve seen this trip, no precipitation in the forecast, winds … 15-30 mph steady, gusts to 30 mph. So … time to ride.

Yuma’s bike paths run along the water canals that come off the Colorado River. The paths were both in excellent condition and make for a nice 24 mile ride. There were a few road crossings but nothing of great concern. The wind was as expected which means bad one way, good the other. We also snuck in a quick ride to the Arizona Territorial Prison Historic site but opted not to pay the entry fee.
Long drive pushed by tailwinds got us to Tucson to see what the Loop is all about over the next few days.
Today's ride: 24 miles (39 km)
Total: 149 miles (240 km)
