Carrollton Greenway

Today was designed to be a short day so we could visit. Our niece enjoyed showing us her house and then decided we needed to go into the city of Atlanta for brunch before we continued down the road. I am not a city person despite her efforts. Too many people, too many cars, everybody seems to be in a hurry with little regard to others but mission accomplished.
Instead we drove west towards Carrollton as the TrailLink app suggested a Greenway around the town. Greenways have their own unique flavor as this one did as well. The 18 mile loop basically connected some smaller sections of the town together with a series of “remote” sections of riding in between. Translated … city side street cycling mixed with nicely wooden sections in between. The side street intersections tended to be unmarked and / or poorly designed while the wooden sections were quite pleasant. If we lived here, this would be an excellent way of not needing a car but as a visitor there were a few start and stop zones trying to figure out where the path was going.
We did end up waiting for the rain to pass, first rain of trip, before we could ride but we found a nice park to wait things out.
Today's ride: 18 miles (29 km)
Total: 235 miles (378 km)
