Pamir Highway Dushanbe to Osh: Cyclists we met

While cycling in Europe, Africa, India and Nepal, we did not meet very many cyclists. Then the Pamir Highway, Dushanbe to Osh, becomes a superhighway for cyclists. On Frank Denham's blog on the Pamirs, http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/3oldbuggersdoaloop he published pictures of the cyclists he met. Liking that idea we are doing the same. Some we only briefly spoke with, some sharing information about the road, some we cycled and camped with, some we leapfrogged not seeing on the road, but later meeting again in the Guesthouses.

In Dushanbe, the Green House we first met Tony and Sara, Brits and never meeting on the road cycling, again met them in Murghab and finally at the TES Guesthouse in Osh.

James, we first met near Pokahara, Nepal and then again on the Northern Route just as we were setting up camp. http://www.reallybigbikeride.com/

Our first day out of Dushanbe, we met Jo and Will aka Super Cyling Man http://supercyclingman.com/ raising funds for World Bicycle Relief, Parkison Research and inspiring children by giving presentations in every country. They cycled the Wakhan Valley, while we stayed on M41, and we met again in Murghab. Jo cycled with us for the last days stretch into Osh. When we arrived at the TES Guesthouse, Will was also here. Tony and Sara are also here.

Now at the TES Guesthouse, there are 15 cyclists, daily the numbers change as some leave and more arrive. After three days rest here in Osh we start out again heading toward Bishkek.

The campsite was perfect, water source nearby. We set up camp, finished eating then a motorcyclist appeared. He asked if his group of 6 could camp with us, the said the magic words "we have beer". They were Romanian. Later, Jo and Will also camped here.

A frequent issue discussed among cyclists on the Pamir Highway. We were amazed how many were having "issues". We suggest Neil creates an extra box on the journal form so Pamir cyclists can track their number and future cyclist can gauge the risks....
