8/1/19 - Rochester to Longview

Long, difficult ride today. Lots of uphill and relentless headwinds. The prevailing winds were not from the usual north direction today. Robb left ahead of us and took a different hilly route to Longview.

This is Rose on our first day riding together. Note her pool noodle on the left side of bike. She uses it to help cars maintain a three-foot clearance.

We spotted Mt St Helens on the way but didn’t stop

Tonight we are all staying with Marti and Dave, who stayed with me on their Florida trip in 2012. Now they have moved from the Midwest to this route. It will be fun to catch up!
