It was hard as hell on certain days where wind, distance, or terrain made the riding tough. Luckily those really tough days were unusual. Other days were tough but doable

What advice would you give other riders who are contemplating a cross country ride?

First - you can do it
Second - train before your ride, especially your climbing skills
Third - a lot of people have ridden cross country, you can find their notes, blogs, and videos online. Use these resources

What was the best part of the ride?

Meeting all the people along the way in every single state

Is there any gear you did not use and send home?

I never used my sandals and tire gauge and sent them home during the ride. As I finished using a map in my set of 12 maps I mailed them home. Everything else I had with me I used

Is there any gear you wish you had with you?

Only one item, a bathing suit to take advantage of hot spring and pools. I purchased a swim suit part way through the ride
