The Big Hole Valley in Montana is 20 miles across, 75 miles long and sits at 6,000 foot elevation. It is one of the largest ranching regions in the state. I rode across it today

Keith ForresterDave—Great to meet you at the summit on your way to Sula! Your story of perseverance through hip replacement and broken bones was inspiring.
I was thinking about your concern of the leg from Missoula to Kooskia. I believe that going east to west you can make it from atop Lolo Pass to Kooskia pretty easily in one day. The first 6-8 miles from the summit are steep, the remaining miles are a steady but gentle downhill. Anyway, best of luck!!

David HendersonTo Keith ForresterI might camp one night at Lochsa Lodge and then make the 66 mile ride to Lowell. Temperatures in the upper 90s the next bunch of days

Keith AdamsThere's a nice USFS campground (Wilderness Gateway, I think) roughly halfway from Lochsa Lodge to Kooskia, with a lovely refreshing cool mountain stream to bathe in.

On the ride from Jackson to Sula I crossed the Continental Divide for the 9th and last time. I have more passes to climb over but all of them are west of the Divide
Today's ride: 57 miles (92 km)
Total: 3,173 miles (5,106 km)
