Day 49 - Still climbing

I am in Fairplay at an elevation of 9,948 feet. Tomorrow I go up and over Hoosier pass at 11,542. The gradient averages 2.5% which is not too steep but the air is mighty thin. How thin?

I live at 600 feet above sea level and air is 20.5% oxygen. At 10,000 feet air is only 14.3% oxygen and at the top of Everest (29,000 feet) air is only 6.9% oxygen. I can certainly feel the elevation as I pedal

Saw a wide variety of ranch gates the last few days

Steve ClarkMay your lungs not burst as they grasp for O2.

If I remember correctly, the tortoise won that race. So, take it easy.
