Before becoming a trail, Katy Trail State Park was the former Missouri-Kansas-Texas (MKT) Railroad. Affectionately nicknamed the "K.T." or "Katy" by railroad employees and passengers, the railroad ran from Parsons, Kansas, to St. Louis, Missouri, and south to Galveston, Texas. Along the side of the trail is this area where the railroad use to store dynamite.

I stopped for lunch in Rocheport. Is it pronounced Rocheport (long o and ch pronounced as sh) which is reminiscent of southern France or Roach-port which has more of that 60s hippie vibe? I will leave it up to you

A few things are hard to find on the road in rural America, a good salad being one of them. Scored this delicious salad at Meriwether Cafe in Roachport

Mike HendersonLooks like a delicious dish! We hope the weather has been cooperative! Lots of tornedos and bad weather in the mid-West.

Love,

Mike and Colleen

Keith AdamsThe town park in Pilot Grove is a great place to overnight. It may not be enough distance for you, though. Sedalia is big enough to have several dining and lodging options.
