Day 16 - On the Road Again

It has been 359 days since I last posted anything about pedaling along the Transamerica bike trail. Glad to be back. Left Sonora, KY this morning heading west with my bionic hip. Rained hard nearly all day

Still riding Ruby

Every road in Kentucky has these rumble strips on the shoulder. Great for cars, terrible for bikers. I have to ride in the lane as a result

Theresa GardnerNot fair to bikers, where are their tax dollars going?

Steve ClarkWell done! Well done!!
52 miles in the rain. Whew. Looks like the knee and everything else was up to the task. Congratulations. You are finally all the way back!
Tomorrow looks like a warm day of passing showers. Enjoy the open road, the victory of your return, and the people you meet.

Jeff LeeYou've probably already heard this, but the First Baptist Church in Sebree is one of the nicest free places to stay on The TransAmerica Trail.

Sebree would be about the right distance as a destination tomorrow, if you're at Rough River Dam tonight.

Also, I've heard that the fire station in Utica no longer allows touring cyclists to stay there.

Finally, the church in Marion allows touring cyclists to stay inside, and there's a shower.

I live in the area (in Henderson), so if you need anything while you're in the area, let me know.

George (Buddy) HallCongratulations on your return! I'll follow along with you and relive some of my own memories from 2015 on the Transam. In addition to the hostels Jeff mentioned, there are several hostels coming up in Missouri that you may want to take advantage of - Farmington (Al's Place) in particular is quite nice. Best of luck with the adventure,
