Maeshafn - Barley

There was a long day ahead here, almost right through Lancashire. Again, some of it on roads which, today, I would not consider setting a wheel on. The weather stayed fine. Once out of Wales we were on the A56 towards Warrington, next Leigh, then Bolton.
Out of Bolton we had to climb a bit up to Ramsbottom, back on the A56 to Rawtenstall, then the A682 to Burnley; King Cotton and the Industrial Revolution in a long afternoon.
From Burnley we had to climb part way up Pendle Hill to the village of Barley. Here, for the only time in the trip, at the end of this long day, I got off the bike and pushed up a short steep hill to the YH.”You can be forgiven for that one,” a local woman walking downhill, said to me as we passed.
Today's ride: 135 km (84 miles)
Total: 901 km (560 miles)
