After two years in a row Corona has put a fat line through our cycling ambitions in the Asian region, we are finally on the road again 🙏🏻🙏🏻🚴
While we had started each of the last two tours in Ho Chi Minh City and cycled to Bangkok on different routes, this year we want to limit ourselves to Thailand. The other countries we've cycled through also have their charms - but somehow in Thailand everything is greener, the food is better, the dogs are fatter, the beaches longer, ...
So yesterday, after we met at Istanbul Airport - Ute from Berlin and me from Cologne - we arrived at the Orchid Resort in Lat Krabang.
And it's a bit like coming home 🥰.
Due to the convenient location - close to the airport, outside the juggernaut of Bangkok - we almost always stopped here at the beginning and / or end of each tour.
Yesterday we were accordingly exhausted and after a dinner, purchased at the night market next door and a cultivated Leo, quite early in bed.
And therefore this morning relatively early on the road.
Delicious and sorely missed noodle soup around the corner, a short walk through the community and then a few hours with a book by the pool.
That's how you get into the vacation 😉
The trip seemed kind of unrealistic for a long time beforehand - maybe that's actually due to the recurring setbacks during Corona...!? I don't know 🤷🏼♀️
But by now knowing our way around here quite well, we abruptly landed in vacation mode.
Tomorrow we want - after delicious soup for breakfast - to go by bike to Bangkok (about 35 km) and spend the day with such nice things like shopping, Thai massage, a bit of planning, ....
The day after tomorrow then by train to Hua Hin and from there always along the coast until we think of something else. As long as the sea is on the left side, we go in the right direction 🤷🏼♀️🤣
We know the first part of the route - and it's beautiful. Miles and miles of deserted beaches along...
But we will post it here in due course and make the readership green with (positive) envy 😉

Nachdem uns Corona zwei Jahre hintereinander einen fetten Strich durch unsere Radtour Ambitionen im asiatischen Raum gemacht hat, sind wir endlich wieder unterwegs 🙏🏻🙏🏻🚴
Während wir die letzten beiden Touren jeweils in Ho Chi Minh Stadt begonnen hatten und auf unterschiedlichen Wegen nach Bangkok geradelt sind, wollen wir uns dieses Jahr auf Thailand beschränken. Die anderen Länder, die wir durchfahren haben, haben auch ihre Reize - aber irgendwie ist in Thailand alles grüner, das Essen ist besser, die Hunde sind dicker, die Strände länger, …
So sind wir nun gestern, nachdem wir uns - Ute von Berlin und ich von Köln aus kommend - am Airport Istanbul getroffen hatten, im Orchid Resort in Lat Krabang angekommen.
Und es ist ein bisschen wie nach Hause kommen 🥰
Aufgrund der günstigen Lage - Nähe zum Flughafen, außerhalb des Molochs Bangkok - sind wir fast immer zum Anfang und / oder Ende der jeweiligen Tour hier eingekehrt.
Gestern waren wir entsprechend platt und nach einem auf dem Nachtmarkt erstandenen Abendessen und gepflegtem Leo recht früh im Bett.
Und dafür heute Morgen relativ früh unterwegs.
Köstliche und schmerzlich vermisste Nudelsuppe um die Ecke, ein kurzer Gang durch die Gemeinde und dann ein paar Stunden mit Buch am Pool.
So kommt man in den Urlaub 😉
Die Reise erschien uns im Vorfeld lange irgendwie unrealistisch - vielleicht ist das tatsächlich den wiederkehrenden Rückschlägen während Corona geschuldet?!? Ich weiß es nicht 🤷🏼♀️
Aber dadurch, dass wir uns hier inzwischen ganz gut auskennen, sind wir schlagartig im Urlaubsmodus gelandet.
Morgen wollen wir - nach lecker Suppe zum Frühstück - mit den Rädern nach Bangkok rein (ca. 35 km) und den Tag mit so schönen Dingen wie Shoppen, Thai-Massage, ein bisschen Planung, … verbringen.
Übermorgen dann mit dem Zug nach Hua Hin und von da aus immer die Küste lang, bis uns was anderes einfällt. So lange das Meer auf der linken Seite ist, fahren wir in die richtige Richtung 🤷🏼♀️🤣
Wir kennen den ersten Teil der Strecke - und es ist wunderschön. Kilometerlang an menschenleeren Stränden entlang…
Aber das werden wir dann zu gegebener Zeit hier einstellen und die Leserschaft vor (positivem) Neid erblassen lassen 😉
