Rayon to Ban Pluh Ta Luang to Bangkok (by train)
So, last leg of our tour today... From Rayong along Highway 3 - and the last about 1.5 km on the 331 - to Ban Plu Ta Luang station.
There's not much to say about the trip - just Highway. Wide shoulder, pleasant, unspectacular driving.
From the 3 turn right onto the 331. After about 1.5 km the sign to the station comes to the left.
A very small station, but English is spoken.
So to purchase a ticket was no problem. We payed 254 Baht for 2 persons and two bikes. Those were stowed in the frontmost car in the “luggage compartment” - which was the former toilet without walls and without the toilet itself - but a sink with running water was still available. And we were seated in the second class.
I love driving trains in Asia. No air conditioning, open windows and doors, fans on the ceiling. Wonderful...
So the almost five hours went by quite quickly.
On arrival in Bangkok it was quite dark - which didn't make the 6 km ride through the city any easier. But that went also quite smoothly, so that after Green Curry and Stir Fried Chicken with Cashewnuts we now sit happily on our balcony on the fifth floor and look over the lights of the city. 😁😁😁
So, letzte Fahrt heute… Von Rayong entlang des Highway 3 - und die letzten ca. 1,5 km auf dem 331 - zum Bahnhof Ban Plu Ta Luang.
Zur Fahrt gibt es nicht großartig was zu sagen - Highway halt. Breiter Seitenstreifen, angenehmes, unspektakuläres Fahren.
Von der 3 geht's rechts ab auf die 331. Nach ca 1,5 km kommt das Schild zum Bahnhof nach links.
Ein sehr kleiner Bahnhof, aber man spricht englisch.
So war der Kartenkauf kein Problem. Die Räder wurden im vordersten Wagen im Gepäckabteil - welches aus den von den Wänden befreiten Toiletten des Wagens besteht - verstaut. Und wir in der zweiten Klasse.
Ich liebe Zug fahren in Asien. Keine Klimaanlage, offene Fenster und Türen, Ventilatoren an der Decke. Herrlich…
So gingen die knapp fünf Stunden auch recht zügig vorbei.
Bei der Ankunft in Bangkok war es dann allerdings schon recht dunkel - was die rund 6 km Fahrt durch die Stadt nicht unbedingt einfacher gemacht hat. Aber auch das lief recht problemlos, so dass wir jetzt nach Green Curry und Stir Fried Chicken with Cashewnuts glücklich auf unserem Balkon im fünften OG sitzen und über die Lichter der Stadt gucken.

we loved the trip and are enjoying the last days in Bangkok. Bikes are checked and ok and tomorrow off to Granny’s
