Day 8: 27 years ago… - Coasting the New England Coast - CycleBlaze

Day 8: 27 years ago…

We woke up single and went to sleep married

We had to cross a bridge with a lot of congestion so I gave Kath an alternate suggestion. We added 10 miles to the route this Friday but that meant we live to cycle another day. We decided to skip a major 2-lane bridge and we had a better day even though it wasn’t what we originally planned today.

I don’t think it needs to be said that this morning had the best breakfast spread

Once we got off of Rt 138 a calmer ride we began to activate

Riding out of Newport was quite a surprise the view of the water was a feast for our eyes. We detour through Fall River which didn’t make our arrival any faster but we avoided the Mount Hope Bridge to Lane Road which would’ve been a traffic disaster.

I’m overjoyed when urban planners ordain an entire path for bikes with 2-lanes

To the driver of the lift kit diesel truck, who tried to “coal roll” us? -  You suck! At noon it became quite clear, we needed lunch - so we got a bagel with a “schmear.” Then five more miles on this roadway, until we made a right onto the bike path at East Bay.

The bike path is closed now we have to look for an alternate route in the detour

On the East Bay path the views were intense as we headed to our destination Providence

The end of the tour for Kath is quite jolly as for me I’m kind of melancholy. The thing about bike touring it isn’t boring as your trip is earned, with every pedal turn.
