Day 7: Newport is bourgeois
(And that’s wheyah we ahh)
After yesterdays long day we slept mighty fine, which led to a lake awakening - we didn’t get out until just before nine. We ate the hotel breakfast so we could be thrifty, then donned jackets heading out since temp was high-fifty.

Kath liked the houses in Hummock point - they were all fancy in this high- end neighborhood joint. My thought was “Honey, they are MONEY!”

When trying to get conditions on the road up ahead don’t ask a non-cyclist driver you might be misled. They’ll tell you that riding a bike is too scary and the road up ahead is really really hairy. They’ll tell you that hill is nothing and you should begin it, or the next town over “is only 10 minute” But then you find the shoulder is no feet wide and it turns out to be a killer hill ride. So drivers who don’t cycle I’ve learned not to ask, because I’ve found they’re often not up to the task.
