Day 6 : Canal de Briare to Saint Satur: a short visit to Sancerre

Mario and Arlette left us to return home by the same way.

I really enjoy the Rolhoff transmission, it is a pleasure to climb any slopes even with the trailer. I have the feeling that biking every day is stimulating endormorphine production. The more you bike, the more you want to bike. I am definetly addicted.

We passed Belleville nuclear power plant. Fourth plant since the beginning. The cooling towers are very impressive and can be seen from far. An explicit sign is remembering us that it is forbidden to take pictures.

The trike ride is pure pleasure. Well, this morning on a small country road they was a young cow on the road, apparentky escape from the field, watching at other cows and wandering how to get back the the field. When she saw us it was a surprise for every body. Jean Jacques manage to go, I prefered to stand up and push my trike but the cow start to follow Jean Jacques and I was behind the cow with Babette.... Kind of never ending situation. But a car appears, from nowhere I shout at the driver to wait for me and Babette, using the car as a shield. It works since I am here to write the story.

A sign said Honey for sale at a lock house, I immediatly stopped and jump to the place, the guy ask me how many kilo I was willing to buy. I just bought one kilo for 8 euros. Fairly descent price.

We arrived at Saint Satur camp site around 4 pm, mount the tents

Sancerre is a very nice quite and peacefull town located on top of a hill, elevation 303 m.

We saw Jacques Coeur's house, one of the oldest house of the city.Bought a bottle of red Sancerre, charcuteries, to much according to Babette.

The camp site is located on Loire river side, shaded, calm.

A young french mother with her kid of two year old came to see what I was doing with my computer, on the camping dryer room, I spent an hour to explained her about CGOAB and GPSIES. A young family with 3 young children, charriot and Pino tandem from Hase, we met them yesterday at Briare. We decided to stay for rest and thet fed their kids ans take the road under the rain. Brass medallion starting to the countdown to km 0 which unfortunately formalized the end of Loire a vélo bicycle dedicated trails. We will see one of these almost ( some have been stolen) every km.

Peaceful city. The pleasure to listen to an open air harp, contrabass, flute concerto
