Strasbourg: A day of rest and planning
We stayed put today to have a bit of a rest, see Strasbourg and do some future planning. Thank you very much to the CGOAB community, Keith and Kathleen and Steve and Dodie, for the information you have given us. I now have the GPS tracks loaded and tomorrow we will set off on the EV5 and Saar Radweg to the Mosel.
This morning we went out to have our breakfast and immediately bumped into two Kiwis, Dave and Jodie, on a big cycle tour that started at the Oberwald Pass, so they have cycled all down the Rhine, they are going as far as Koblenz and will then go up the Mosel so we may meet them as we come down it. Poor things had had their bikes stolen last night but seemed to be taking it very calmly and had already found a bike shop to buy replacements. The hotels in the centre of Strasbourg don't have a lot of space so bike storage is at a premium. We are lucky we are staying at the Hotel Cathedral- we can leave our bikes at the restaurant and this is locked at night.
Strasbourg is a lovely city to wander in. We have been to the spectacular Cathedral NotreDame de Strasbourg, made of pink stone, and enjoyed its lofty interior with a Swallows Nest Organ and jewel like stained glass. We had a nice lunch with Ken particularly pleased to have frittures - those tiny fish he so enjoyed in St Ledger. A bit of a sleep after lunch, more wandering and soon we will go out to dinner
