Hattersheim: Not the best of days
Ken writes
We went along the town to a very fine restaurant with live music, it was fun if rather cld, two singers one playing a key board nd the other a viola - playing old German songs many well known to us including Roll Out the Barrel
This morning another fine breakfast and off on a fairly cold but fine morning. Our aim today was to visit up to 3 bike shops in this area with a view to getting our bikes packed up for us to fly out on 6/10. At first we had to get to the Main. The track at first was great between vineyards and the Rhine. Atone point we were diverted to a nice little town for coffee. Later we were again diverted from the river- but once it became completely clear they weren't going our way we had to back track. For a time signs were good then they just disappeared leaving us going through miles suburbs We eventually joined the Main a long way up from its mouth. Progress was intermittent but we finally came to Edersheim to check the first bike shop. It was only open 6 hours a week! The next 2 Hattersheim were one man operations and both declined to pack bikes!
Fortunately when I have been out exploring Tricia has rung another bike shop and arranged for them to pack the bikes on 4/10. It is a miracle
