we had a day off yesterday. I walked around town a bit, cleaned the bike up and washed some clothes. We headed off to the Mesabi Trail today. It is not the rail to trail style. It wound around and went up and down. It was pretty fun.

We met a bicycle frame builder from Des Moines, IA. He and his lady friend (wife?) had beautiful bikes. Lugged steel frames, cantilever brakes, Rene Herse cranks, polished fenders. Awesome bikes. They told us the Trail website had info about a detour nearby.

It came up a few miles later. We ended up going through Hibbing rather than around it. It was about 7 miles of re-routed distance.

Rain, wind and colder weather are expected tomorrow. The plan is to go by vehicle rather than bicycle.
