Years ago, someone decided Hackensack needed a gimmick. He came up with the idea that Paul Bunyan had a "sweetheart" named Lucette from Hackensack. The first chain saw carving tournament is said to have been there also.
More of the Bunyan State Trail with some side trips to the Heartland and Shingobee Trails. Much smoother pavement. Winds were not a problem. Tailwind or a lot of trees?
In Bemidji now. Tomorrow we go the headwaters of the Mississippi River near Itasca.
