Almost a full month later here's the final evaluation of the Matrimonial Evaluation Tour. Just like our marriage, we are both in it for the long haul. Mainly we had nothing but fun, and in the handful of moments that one or the other of us (or both of us) were struggling we helped each other through. That has been the hallmark of the last 33 years. We spent the first few days after the ride battling that feeling of emptiness, yearning for the simplicity and the challenge of riding your bike to the next destination. As for me, I'll just say that the amazing young woman I married 31 years ago has aged like a .... no, I won't default to that trite "fine wine" cliche. But, man oh man, I really did get lucky when I married Margaret. Like ... Powerball lottery ticket winner lucky.
