Catazajá
Mad dogs and cycle tourists pretty much sums up today's ride.

We knew it was going to be hot but still only managed to get away at around seven thirty. By that stage, if Wunderground is to be believed, it was twenty eight degrees and ninety eight percent humidy. We dragged ourselves into Catazajá after one o'clock when Wunderground suggested it would be thirty five degrees but "feels like forty two". I lost track of how much we drank along the way but I still feel dehydrated. Thank goodness there were enough places along the way where we could buy cold drinks.
Catazajá is just a stop on the way to Palenque which is a little more than thirty kilometers away. Leigh momentarily thought we should push on but common sense got the better of her.
Our digs for the night, Hotel San Jose, is simple and affordable. Supper at a restaurant on the lake's edge was less affordable for quite simple food but provided a nice location to relax and watch the birds that were hanging around the water's edge. The restaurant is only open until six in the evening so they shut the doors as we left.
